Chili Al Smith’s First Place

4 lb ground soy
olive oil or butter
jar or two marinara sauce
3 1/2 med onions; chopped
1 bell pepper; chopped
6 cloves garlic; minced
1 tb oregano
1/2 ts sweet basil
1 tb cumin seed or ground cumin
salt and pepper to taste
3 tb (or more) chili power

In a 4-quart pot, brown meat in oil or butter or in a blend of the two. Add the remaining ingredients, Simmer 2-3 hours with the lid on.
